DIY Mindfulness Flashcards for Children, Made With Cricut

These DIY mindfulness flashcards for kids, made with Cricut, are a tool that parents and caregivers can use to help children cope with their worries and process emotions.

I cannot think of anybody who doesn’t have good reason to be stressed right now. At a time when everyday stresses are compounded with the universal stresses caused by a global pandemic, parents and caregivers are worried not only about their own anxiety, but that of the children in their care.

I made these mindfulness flashcards with the help of my Cricut Maker and Cricut Joy cutting machines. (You don’t need both machines. I’ll explain further.) The idea is to create a whole set of flashcards so that when kids are feeling stressed, hurt or angry, they can grab a card at random and perform the activities that the card suggests.

Pumpkin Oatmeal Medjool Date Breakfast Cookies (vegan recipe)

Pumpkin Oatmeal Medjool Date Breakfast Cookies (vegan)

Eat cookies for breakfast without a smidgen of guilt - make these delicious, nourishing Pumpkin Oatmeal Medjool Date Breakfast Cookies for a tasty start to your day.

Cookies for breakfast is a thing. I promise. Especially when the cookies are full of healthy ingredients like antioxidant-rich pumpkin, heart-healthy oats and nutrient-dense Medjool Dates. Sometimes I just don't feel like eating in the morning, but if I don't eat, I end up feeling weak. These simple vegan cookies are perfect for those mornings when you don't want a big breakfast, but you want a little something to satisfy your tummy and keep you energized. This cookie recipe is also great for mornings on the run. You can store these Pumpkin Oatmeal Medjool Date Breakfast Cookies in the freezer and grab a couple as you head out the door.

Natural Delights Medjool Dates boast 16 essential vitamins and minerals. Medjools have 50 percent more potassium (by weight) than bananas. Potassium is important because it helps with muscle recovery, builds muscle tissues, maintains heart health and kidney function and keeps skin cells hydrated.

Using Cricut to Create Custom Decals For Dessert Charcuterie Boards

Using Cricut to Create Custom Decals For Dessert Charcuterie Boards

Use your Cricut cutting machine to make easy, fun "vegan" and "gluten-free" vinyl decals for dessert charcuterie boards.

With a range of dietary preferences and restrictions commonplace today, your family or friend group likely includes people who require vegan, gluten-free, nut-free or other dietary options. Show your special guests that you care about each and every one of them with these quick and simple vinyl decals that make it clear which charcuterie board options are safe for them to eat.

I used my Cricut Maker to make cute "vegan" and "GF" decals to decorate my dessert (with a heavy emphasis on chocolate) charcuterie boards. I'll show you how you can do the same with this easy tutorial.

How To Create Drive-In Cinema Date Night Tote Bags With Cricut

How To Create Drive-In Cinema Date Night Tote Bags With Cricut

There's no need to travel far from home to have a good time this summer. Make the most of your hometown outings - create these easy drive-in cinema date night his and hers tote bags with the help of Cricut. Nothing says summer like cuddling up to watch a drive-in movie with some tasty snacks.

I don't know about you, but I don't pack light for the drive-in. (Truth be told, I don't pack light for any outing.) I need a sweater and a blanket in case it gets cold - maybe some fuzzy socks - a water bottle, a portable phone charger and, of course, snacks. That’s why I thought it would be fun to diy his and hers tote bags for drive-in cinema date nights.

Each tote bag has theme-appropriate iron-on movie images, such as popcorn and tickets, along with "his" and "hers" iron-ons to keep all those drive-in necessities neat and organized. Of course, you can modify the bags to suit yourself and your partner - maybe your diy iron-on tote bags are "hers" and "hers" - use your own favourite colours so you know which bag is yours. You can also personalize these drive-in cinema tote bags with names. It would be fun for kids to have their own bags too!

Vegan S'mores Cookies On The Reducetarian Website

Vegan S'mores Cookies

These vegan baked s'mores cookies are a perfect treat for a rainy summer day. A cozy indoor version of the campfire classic s'mores, with dark chocolate chunks, graham cracker pieces and vegan mini marshmallows.

We have already enjoyed s'mores made over a campfire a few times this summer. My preference is for a toasty, slightly blackened vegan marshmallow squished between two crunchy graham crackers, with a wedge of melty, dairy-free dark chocolate tucked in.

Just as good as the campfire classic s'mores though are these delicious, slightly decadent baked s'mores cookies. Your whole family will love them. The cookie base is delicately sweet, thanks to coconut sugar (less sweet than traditional sugar). But you get that decadent punch you want from a dessert cookie with the classic s'mores add-ins.

How To Paint Interior Doors Black

Here's how to paint your interior doors black. Spoiler alert: it's very easy!

Recently we decided to paint our basement walls white. (They were previously yellow.) We have a walk-out basement, with good natural light in the main living area, and I wanted it to have less of a basement feel and more of a bright "upstairs" kind of feel. I think a fresh white backdrop is great for displaying colorful artwork and mementos too. Plus, I'm just not a basement kind of gal. I think there's a reason they call them man caves!

With fresh white walls, we saw that the basement doors could use freshening up too. We have four storage closets with doors, as well as a bathroom door, a door to the storage room and a door to my husband's little "music room." In fact, the small hallway at the bottom of the stairs is basically a confusion of doors. (We were excited about all the extra storage space when we moved into this house and then we quickly filled it up - but I digress.)

We knew that we wanted to use Fusion Mineral Paint for our interior doors. We have used it for furniture and for our front exterior door and it's a dream to work with. It goes on beautifully and has no unpleasant odour (and zero VOCs). Fusion Mineral Paint is also very durable and has a built-in top coat. We have even used it on outdoor flower boxes and it holds up to rain and snow for quite a long time. We were provided with Fusion Mineral Paint and other tools for our project, but I reached out to partner with them again because I love the paint so much.

Here's how we went about painting our basement interior doors black. (It was so easy and it has made such a difference in the space.)

Easy Vegan Apple Cinnamon Pancakes With Buttery Apple Topping (Recipe)

Easy Vegan Apple Pancakes With Buttery Apple Topping (Recipe)

Yes you can make pancakes without eggs or dairy! And not just any pancakes - tasty, fluffy, homemade, healthy, vegan apple cinnamon pancakes with shredded apple and a luscious, buttery, fried apple topping!

A fresh, whole apple on its own makes for a delicious, portable and healthy snack. But apples also contribute beautifully to a host of sweet and savoury recipes, giving plain old recipes a boost in nutrients and taste. Maybe you're a fan of homemade apple pie, for example, but you don't think pie is breakfast food? (I mean, I think any food can be breakfast food, depending on the day and your mood.) Then these easy, healthy vegan apple cinnamon pancakes with buttery apple topping are just the recipe for you!

I crafted this apple pancake recipe with tasty Organic Washington apples. Washington State is known as one of the premier apple-growing areas in the world. Growing conditions make Washington the finest place to grow organic apples. (Next time you're at the grocery store, have a peek at the little sticker on the apples and you'll see that many of them come from Washington.) The nutrient-rich soil, arid climate, plentiful water and advanced growing practices provide the right ingredients for producing top-quality fruit.
