Hurom H70 Easy Clean Slow Juicer Review and My Fave Ginger Shot Recipe

Hurom H70 Easy Clean Slow Juicer in white

Recently, I had the opportunity to test out the Hurom H70 easy clean slow juicer. We love our previous Hurom juicer, and we have found that the easy clean design is a game changer. Without it, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to make fresh, homemade juice very often. This is primarily because I still have bad memories of old juicers with strainer designs, and that build-up of pulp that I could never quite remove from the unit.

Here is my review of the Hurom H70 juicer and the features I most admire. Check out Hurom's selection of juicers for making homemade fresh juice, nut milks and frozen desserts.

Hurom H70 appearance

The Hurom H70 juicer has a sleek, modern design that looks beautiful on the kitchen counter. The full unit slides right under the top cupboards in my kitchen, however, be sure to check the dimensions if you want the juicer to sit on your kitchen counter, as I found that it is taller than it looks in photos.

Hurom notes that the H70 is in between the size of their H310 and H400 juicers, in "the goldilocks zone" for anyone looking for a serious juicer that still fits on their countertop. The H70 is available in white or matte black.

Function and performance

The H70 juicer has a self-feeding “mega hopper” top that allows you to insert large-size ingredients. You can put all of your ingredients in at once and let the juicer do its work slowly munching those beautiful fruits and veggies into a gorgeous, colourful and nutritious juice. You can also insert additional ingredients as the unit is juicing, through the good-sized inlet at the top of the cover.

Hurom has maximized the chamber and hopper size to make it easy to load large amounts of produce at one time, making it suitable for families or committed juicers.

The H70 uses an auger to slow squeeze as much juice as possible out of your produce, for a high yield and low pulp. As previously noted, traditional juicers require a strainer, which collects minerals over time, and necessitates more scrubbing. The H70's two-part auger meshes together to strain out pulp-free juice without a strainer. As a bonus, the unit works quietly and has a munching sound that I find pleasant and kind of amusing.

Disassembly and cleaning

The Hurom H70 juicer is easy to disassemble post-use in order to rinse the parts. I know of what I speak because I’ve had the aforementioned inexpensive juicers in the past that are very difficult to take apart. Think fully stuck together with orange pulp remnants.

Simply disassemble and give all the parts a rinse right after juicing before the fruits and vegetables have had an opportunity to dry up and stick to the various parts of the juicer. The H70's individual parts all detach from each other to save cleaning and scrubbing time.

I am sometimes eager to get straight to the drinking of the juice so I will put the parts into a soapy water in the sink while I drink the juice and wash afterwards.

Make your own ginger shots

Lately my favourite thing to do with the juicer is making ginger shots. You’ve likely seen them at the stores and noticed how expensive they can be. It’s so simple to make your own custom ginger shots at home with a little bit of ginger, some fresh lemon juice and other ingredients like carrots or apples, as desired. Get that immunity boost daily and with fresh ingredients of your choice.

Homemade lemon ginger shots

Two servings

  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
  • 2 lemons, peeled
  • 1 medium carrot, scrubbed clean, ends chopped off and cut in two

Simply add the ingredients to the H70 hopper and close the lid. Turn on the unit to juice. I like to pour my fresh juice over ice or add to a small shot glass.
