I keep telling myself, "Enough with the owls already!" But then I see another adorable, wise, sweet owl face on some kind of home décor item and I simply cannot resist. Like this owl pillow that I found at Goodwill on my last thrifting outing with my sister. I mean, come on, isn't it so cute? I also picked up this crocheted granny blanket. I have about a bazillion blankets already, but this was such a cold winter I developed an even fonder attachment to blankets of all sizes and types. (My sister just gave me an electric throw blanket and I'm in Heaven about it!)
A lot of times I pass up blankets and pillows at the thrift stores because I'm a bit of a germaphobe. But this blanket appeared to be in awesome condition. I washed it on the gentle cycle in the washer when I got home. I thought I would scrub the pillow a bit with some cleaner too and hope it doesn't ruin it.
The pillow was $4 and the blanket $6, but I didn't pay that much for either one, I don't think. As I said last week the most kind Goodwill lady ever marked just about every item down without even discussing it. I ended up paying $16 for items that added up to $23.
Spring seems to be on the way now and I don't expect to need so many blankets. But I'm also thinking a pile of granny blankets will be great to take out to the deck once outdoor entertaining season begins. Which means, yes, I'll probably look to buy more!
Are you a collector of blankets and/or pillows?

I definitely would have bought that owl pillow! I think you can never have too many owls ;) We're in autumn here but it's still warm so I have to start thinking about blankets too, otherwise the kids drag their bed blankets around the house or give eachother blanket rides across the floors (with all the cat hair)...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm glad you support my owl addiction. ;) Oh, you definitely need more blankets then! You don't want them dragged around the house. If they are anything like my kids, then come bedtime you'll have to go looking for their blankets for them! :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous Blanket ,love the Colours ,it looks really wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great Day ,lovely Greetings from Vienna!
Thanks so much! You are very kind. Jo
DeleteLove both buys! I am starting to be a collector, but my weakness are butterflies and elephants.
ReplyDeleteI would totally love stuff with butterflies and elephants on it too!!! ;)
DeleteSuch great finds :) My local thrift shops don't have great items like that - which is probably not a bad thing for my wallet ;)
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! Because when it is a good price you just HAVE TO HAVE IT! But even thrifted goods can add up!
DeleteThanks for hosting Joann!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a regular at the party! Jo
DeleteLove the blanket!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteYour pillow and blanket are great. Who can resist a cute owl.
ReplyDeleteNot me honey!
DeleteGreat finds, Jo!
ReplyDeleteYes, I collect granny blankets and Mexican styled blankets... They are pretty and eclectic so it's hard to pass them up when I find a good one.
Ooh, Mexican blankets are great too!
DeleteUm, YEAH! I would have bought that owl pillow in a heartbeat. Man, the GW's where I am really suck. I don't find anything good! I have quite the collection of afghans. Actually it's a little nuts. A lot of them were made by my grandma and my mom, some are from thrifting, and one I even picked up out of the middle of the road. (yes I did that. it was a beautiful afghan!) I blame my MN roots for my blanket collection. :)
ReplyDeleteI would totally pick it up off the road too! I love the quilts and afghans my granny made. So special!
Deletei love finding nice blankets in the thrifts too, but just like you i only pick up ones that look clean and looked after and are washable at least on a gentle cycle. sweet finds!
ReplyDeleteGlad it's not just me!
DeleteI'd have knocked someone over for a chance at that pillow!! : )
ReplyDeleteLOL Laura. Fortunately I didn't have to do that - my sister handed it to me! ;) Jo
