With all of the credit card rewards programs available today, making the right choice can be overwhelming. If you're like me, you want your purchases to earn you points towards something useful for your family. We all have limited budgets and lots of bills to pay, so we want our points to really make a difference.
I'm happy to be able to provide some clarity about a program that promises to help you with one of the more expensive times of year to be a parent – back-to-school season. RBC has created ‘how-to’ videos on how to best use the RBCrewards.com site. Whether you're a current RBC Rewards member or you're on the hunt for a new card that serves you well, you'll want to watch the videos to take advantage of the benefits. For one, you can earn 12 times the points just by shopping online.
Shop Online & Earn Bonus Points
These days, I prefer to shop online whenever possible. It's quick and convenient and I can take advantage of special discounts sent by email. You earn at least 1 RBC Rewards point per dollar spent using your card anywhere. But, if you shop through the RBC Rewards eMall, you'll have access to over 250 retailers offering bonus RBC Rewards points. Retailers that you use anyway - like Indigo, Hudson's Bay, Old Navy and Gap.
Once you log into your account in the eMall, you can link over to your favourite retailer's site and shop online like you always do. (And buy great back-to-school fashions, like the clothes I picked out from Gap Kids, above.) Just make your purchase with an eligible RBC Royal Bank credit card and watch your bonus points climb. Do the shopping you need to do anyway while accruing valuable points!
Redeem Your Points Online
RBC Rewards members can redeem points for gift cards (at over 50 top retailers), Best Buy and Future Shop products (over 100,000+ products) and other merchandise, like beauty supplies, dishes, toys and even gifts for your dog. You can get the latest high-tech gadget for you or your kids using only your points!
