I have a couple of thrifty finds to share, including this "Strawberry Patch" fabric. I found it at the thrift shop and thought it would be perfect for little sewing projects with the kids.
My other thrifty find is the tea press/French press. My husband had just been served tea in a similar one at The Minga when my mom spotted this little guy for $3 at the thrift shop. Not a vintage find - it's brand new - but I'm glad to have it for my loose leaf teas.
The tea cup was a gift. I believe it's from Homesense.
How about you? Any great finds recently?

So I have a French press coffee pot that looks exactly like your tea press. It has honestly never once, ever, occurred to me to use it for tea. Duh! Can't wait to get home and try it now!
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm not much of a coffee drinker so I hadn't thought of it. I wonder if they work the same? I hope it works out for you Heather. :)

Great finds ... I've never made tea in anything but a pot or a mug (but I use a bag). Tea looks so good in clear glass. Your fabric looks very early summery with the strawberries and is reminding me of picnics! I enjoyed your beach photos too - pure Canadian - did the kids pour some maple syrup on the snow to really immerse themselves in winter/spring? ;) Wendy x
ReplyDeleteWouldn't a picnic be nice? It's once again freezing here today. :(
DeleteWe didn't pour maple syrup on the snow (too expensive) but we did have it on our pancakes. ;)
Yes, I agree, looks just like our french press. Such a pretty tea cup!!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's the same thing - yet you can find some for sale named tea presses and some named coffee presses. Apparently you just have to be more gentle with the tea leaves. :)
DeleteCute photo, the vintage strawberry fabric is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! :)

ReplyDeletethat fabric is lovely. And I've never thought of using a pot like that for a tea!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm the only one who didn't think of using it for coffee. ;)
DeleteYou always find the best stuff!!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric, show us what you end up making.

Thanks Pia. If you could just wait a year or two, I'll definitely show you. ;) The best of intentions and all that...
DeleteSadly, I am trying so so so SO hard to declutter and save money right now. I'm living vicariously through you!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to buy more for your sake then Julee! ;)
DeleteFrench Press!! we ONLY use a press to make coffee around we have 2 or 3 of them at this point--good idea for tea. Glad you came by!
ReplyDeleteWe use a Keurig for coffee - mostly for guests. I'm afraid I'm a tea granny. ;)
DeleteFun finds. that fabric is adorable! Thank you for sharing at TTF!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diann! :)
DeleteGreat finds. Tea and thrifty are on my mind right now as a friend is throwing a tea party fundraiser for charity and I'm helping out with the decorations so last week I hit up a local thrift shop and just by sheer luck they were having a 1/2 price sale on all household items. I got two very nice tea pots that I'm going to use as flower vases plus a couple of large heavy silver trays for displaying treats. It's amazing what you can find.
ReplyDeleteI love the tea press you found. I've got so many loose leaf teas and that would be a great way to prepare it.
That sounds so cool! I love the idea of tea pots as vases and the whole tea theme in general! Good luck with the fundraiser! :)
DeleteOur thrift shops never seem to put the dishes on sale, just the clothes. :(
