Holiday Wishes

With very few days left on the holiday countdown clock, the joy of Christmas morning will soon be here. Our holiday preparations are well underway. We have completed my favourite journey of the year - to the Christmas tree farm to get our special tree. For the second year in a row, my son spotted the prized tree. He is quite proud of his tree-selecting skills.

We have dressed the tree with all of our favourite lights and ornaments. The Christmas music is on rotation. And the all-important Christmas gift wishlists have been made.

Compiling the Christmas wishlists is serious business around here. This year, the kids put their usual bickering aside to pour over the Sears Toy Shop catalogue together, their eyes alight with anticipation of the moment they will see their wishlists come to life.

As I mentioned in "12 Great Things About Christmas," seeing my kids with their Christmas morning toys is one of the great joys of the season for me. Sure, Christmas isn't all about getting stuff, but that is certainly one fun part of it!

My favourite page in the Sears Toy Shop catalogue is page 6 - Presents From Christmas Past. With classics like Fisher Price's record player, chatter phone and two-tune music box TV, as well as the classic Etch-A-Sketch, this page brought me back to my own childhood in a big way.

My kids are too big for those childhood classics now, but they found lots of other must-have items in the toy book. I believe my daughter chose 16 items in all...and no, she will not be getting them all! Both of the kids noted that they would like a Zoomer interactive dog. I'm still debating that one - we already have a real dog. That should be good enough! My daughter also asked for the KidKraft adjustable lounger in pink - perfect for relaxing on while enjoying a good book! Among the gifts my son has asked for is the Disney Infinity Starter Pack for PS3.

I have yet to write out my own wish list, but it goes something like this - time to relax with family over the Christmas holidays, maybe read a novel, catch up on my magazines, do some sewing crafts with the kids and watch a couple of grown-up movies at the theatre (with Mom and Dad here to babysit).

What are you wishing for?

  6. What am I wishing for? Good question. I seldom create a wish list of my own. I would love a new coat and some funky boots. A kettle since mine broke and maybe a bottle of wine. Not much.

    1. It's funny how we moms neglect our own Christmas wish lists. I hope you get all your desired treasures this year! :)

  8. Great pics! That pic of tree cutting reminds me of our many tree cutting adventures when I was a child. Unfortunatley, DS5 is allergic so we have an artificial one now!
