A Cookbook Addict's Dream

It's a cookbook addict's dream - recently I was invited to select books from DK Canada's "Tasty DK" food and drink boutique. For a limited time, epicurean titles for foodies are 30% off. There are titles on everything from home brew beer to cake decorating.

I picked a couple of titles that are very different from those in my cookbook collection. The first is "Preserve It," a guide to the art of preserving fruit, vegetables and more.

I love the thought of preserving peaches, beets and vegetables, but I confess I never do it. My husband has made relish a couple of times, but that's about it. This book has 600 colour photographs and clear instructions for storing, drying and freezing foods. There are more than 100 recipes for sweet and savory preserves and bottled and canned delights. I'm afraid I have no excuse to not preserve now!

I love vegetables, but I tend to prepare them the same way day after day. That's why I was excited by "Vegetables Please." This is a book for anyone who wants to add more delicious veggies to their diet. It contains more than 200 vegetarian recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.

I am looking forward to trying this recipe for Cashew Nut Paella.

There is a section on pantry essentials, which details the veggies featured in the book and their seasonal availability.

This book is really helping me to see the possibilities when it comes to preparing vegetables. I'm loving these pages on making mushrooms four ways!

Have a look at the DK food and drink boutique. There's sure to be a title that appeals to you. Are you a cookbook addict too?

*I received books for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

  1. I love them but I'm slowly weeding some of them out, I very rarely ever buy one now - I still use some of them but the iPad seems to be taking over! The preserve one does look very interesting!
