Summer has flown by and with it my resolution to wear dresses more often. I bought two eShakti custom dresses back in the spring in preparation for summer. But September arrived and I had yet to wear either of them.
We went to the Toronto Vegetarian Food Festival this past Sunday and I seized upon my last chance to wear this eShakti orange gingham summer frock. After lots of rain on Saturday, Sunday turned out to be a lovely day for the festival, which takes place at the picturesque harbourfront.
I usually stick to the same handy black purse, but I figured this was also a good opportunity to take out this thrifted orange purse.
There was a bit of a chill in the air, so I threw on an Old Navy jean jacket that's been hanging around in my closet for several years.
I also accessorized with this lovely Coin Pearl and Cotton Necklace from Nectar Jewelry by Rachel Vanatta. I think it is so delicately pretty with its simple coin pearl set with a Swarovski crystal. The waxed cotton chain looks like leather, but it's lighter in weight, water resistant, breathable and animal-friendly! Matching Coin Pearl Earrings and a Coin Pearl Crystal and Cotton Bracelet are also available. I'm thinking Christmas present from the husband?
Based in Atlanta, jewelry designer Rachel Vanatta is influenced by elements of nature - trees, coral, mountains and sand. Each of these is made up of smaller components that Rachel tries to capture in her jewelry line. She combines varying textures, organic shapes and colours with contrasting elements such as crystal and refined metals.
"The goal I aim to communicate though my jewelry is that simple beauty surrounds us; that even the tiniest, seemingly insignificant creations hold an integral part to our planet," Rachel says. Several of her designs pay tribute to the bee, which she sees as an example of magic in this world and of the interconnections between all living things.
