If you are a regular reader of this blog, you might well wonder how there could be anything left for me to take from my mom and dad's house. I have shown you so many vintage dishes, collectibles and larger pieces that my parents have given me over the past few years.
But yes, there's one more piece. My mom had this vintage laundry stand (drying rack?) tucked away in the basement. She really likes it and she was hoping to find a place to display it. Unfortunately for her, and fortunately for me, she never did find an appropriate spot.
Truth is, I'm not sure I have an appropriate spot either. For now, I have deposited this antique piece in our main floor hallway. There is a rare bare spot next to the stairs. Since I placed it there, it has unintentionally become a temporary resting spot for the various items that need to go back down to the basement (the stairs to which are right next to the vintage laundry stand).
I started to clear it off for the picture and then I thought I'd just be honest about it. So, have a look at one of the many piles of magazines in our house. Oh, and some random soccer shoes that don't fit anymore.
Just to give you a look at the shape of the piece, here is the laundry stand without those lovely embellishments.
What do you think I should do with this puppy?

What a great piece. I actually really like it were you have it. I am sure you will think of something amazing to do with it.

Thanks Pia! I'll probably end up keeping it there...until another space opens up anyway! ;)
DeleteI love things like this. Giving old stuff a new lease of life is fab. Love how it looks in your hall.
ReplyDeleteI can never get rid of anything vintage it seems.
DeleteThanks so much!
This gave me some good ideas for when I move into my new place in October :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad! Enjoy your new space. :)
DeleteThat's a gem! I like it there, too. Maybe you could put a potted plant or two on top, and then a shoe tray underneath for stray shoes?
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great idea. Except I'm horrible with plants. I'll have to get my husband on it!
DeleteOh wow I LOVE IT !!!!
ReplyDeleteWish my mom had cool stuff like this ;)
xoxo
Thanks Miss Ella! :)
DeleteWhat a great piece! I love the patina. Seems it would come in handy right where it is! But it would fit in anywhere - the patio, the laundry room, the kitchen. On top of another larger table. I could go on and on. I love it! xo
ReplyDeleteIt's funny Karen, I didn't think of the laundry room, even though it's a laundry stand! The patio would be great too. :)
DeleteVery cool. It's always nice to have a bench by the stairs to take shoes on and off etc. looks great!
ReplyDeleteI thought of that, but I don't know if it would hold up to people sitting on it? I'm sure we will find out, because the kids pretty much abuse everything! ;)
DeleteThat's awesome! I think it looks good in your hallway the way you have it photographed. I wonder if a piece of glass on top would help it to be more useful...
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa! I love the glass idea! It would make a nice coffee table. :)
DeleteFabulous piece and fabulous idea!!! : ) Hugs...TFS!
