Thrifting Sisters - part four
On Friday, I shared photos of me and my sister shopping at the Salvation Army thrift shop. It's always more fun thrift shopping with another deal hunter, isn't it?
I last shared a "Thrifting Sisters" post back in March. My sister and I don't get to shop together often, but we can do some damage when we do. On this particular trip, she got the cute necklace she was wearing in the Friday pictures. I, of course, got some dishes, including these little Enoch Wedgwood "Blue Heritage" plates. I can't resist those pretty blue patterned dishes! Can you?
I also got four Pier 1 porcelain "Kui Hua" bowls. They were marked $2.99 each, but my sister (who is a tad more outgoing than I) asked the lady why they were marked so high. She knocked them down to 99 cents. I now see that the Kui Hua pattern is fairly pricey on Ebay. Thanks sister!
Who is your favourite shopping companion?

My daughter Andrea and I hit the thrift stores at least twice a week. Love those blue and white plates!
ReplyDeleteTwice a week? You must have good restraint. I fear I would blow the budget!
DeleteCool blog ; nice pictures :)!

Lovin' those plates!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym! :)
DeleteI love blue & white patterns too! They're so crisp and fresh looking. I tried to get a saleslady at Value Village to let me break up a huge china set (over 40 pieces!), but she wouldn't have it. I just wanted the little sandwich plates ... don't you hate it when they won't break a set? Who would know? Annoying. Love those little bowls you picked up too. Um ... you're still talking about that necklace Jo. Take a deep breath and let it go now ;) Wendy
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty rigid with those "rules" aren't they?
DeleteYou caught the bit about the necklace eh? ;)
Just love those bowls! Think I need to shop with your sister, I don't think I have ever yet managed to knock a price down.

Hi Kate, I'm the same way. I can't get the price knocked down. I will be going with my sister more often! :)
DeleteOoh I like those bowls! I'm actually not much of a shopper (I know gasp!). I usually have a list of items i really really want and when I have a little extra cash, I splurge on one of those... but I could shop for food all day!
ReplyDeleteThanks! To be honest, I'm not much for shopping either. I just don't have the time or energy to browse like I did pre-kids. Like you, I DO love food though. :)
DeleteThose plates are such a walk down memory lane- my mom had a few while I was growing up! So pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think my mom had some too. Something about the blue is just so lovely.
DeleteI usually go alone but come home with plenty of breakables. Your sister is a good negotiator!
ReplyDeleteI generally go alone too. Yes, she is good to have around. :)
DeleteLove those bowls!!!! What a great deal and yes your sister is a great thrift partner! I love to shop with my daughter! Always fun!
ReplyDeleteYou got yourself some good deals. It is always nice to have a negotiator with you!
