We are still in the process of decorating our spare bedroom. We finally painted it a lovely subtle shade of purple as I've long been wanting to do. I would like to add a new end table and a dresser, but it's not a priority for us at the moment. We rarely have overnight guests so the room isn't often used.
So, for now, the room still holds my husband's childhood dresser. I have topped it with one of my grandmother's beautiful doilies, as well as two finds from the annual (very cheap) basket sale that I so love to go to. The little wooden guy with the three drawers is a past basket sale find. The purple vase is a find from this year's sale.
I added the sweet little pitcher set I got at the Salvation Army's green-friendly April sale. Anchoring the group is the framed Japanese paper (printed with dogs) that my friend once wrapped a present in.
I love to mix vintage, new and sentimental pieces when I'm decorating. How about you? What kind of style do you go for in your home?

I love the dog paper!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We got it from a very dear friend who was an artist. :)
Deletea LOVELY display! So very simple and yet beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Laura! I'm glad you like it! :)
DeleteUgh. That dog paper is adorable!! Ideally I'd decorate our place with all the wonderful things I'd buy on my world travels. But I don't get to travel much. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel! My husband and I used to buy African masks and other art on our travels. No more travels, no more money for art. ;)
DeleteThe paper is adorable and it really does tie everything together nicely. I live the muted tones with a few pops of color. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Melissa! I'm happy you like it. :)
DeleteBeautiful purple vase! Thanks for linking with us! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting! :)
DeleteCurrently my style is cluttered in the constant process of decluttering, much to my annoyance. It seems as soon as I get rid of boxes of stuff, more boxes magically appear...
ReplyDeleteOh, don't worry, I have mixed in the "cluttered" style too! Plenty. ;)
DeleteHi there! Such a pretty little collection of objects, and what a luxury to have a guest room... I'm definately jealous.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lilly!
DeleteUnfortunately, it seems the more rooms, the more stuff over here! I am struggling to organize it all. ;)
Pretty little things, and a very relaxing shade of purple. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruthie! :)
DeleteThank you Kym! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the dog paper picture. What a find.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I like it too. :)
DeleteThe grass is greener on the other side. :( (Trying not to sweat as I type).... The finds are beautiful but what i'm drooling over is how you framed the Japanese gift paper! It makes all of the pieces and colors click! You have such an amazing eye for this kind of stuff!
ReplyDeleteExcept our grass is often covered with snow, Wendy. ;)
DeleteThank you for your kind words. I have to give my husband some of the design credit though. The paper may have been his idea. :)
Framing that paper is very cool! Visiting from TTF.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! :)
DeleteWhat a great vignette and I love the framed paper! So vintage! Thanks for joining TTF!
