I hope you all enjoyed a beautiful weekend, as we did. We spent the weekend at my parents' house, otherwise known as "the cottage," where we celebrated my dad's 86th birthday. How the time does pass.
The weather was as close to perfect as it gets around here. Lake Erie was not quite warm enough for swimming, but the sun was out and the beach was nice and hot.
I'm not sure I'm going to get my weekly meal plan done this week. I had to take advantage of the warm weather after all. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
After a barbecue dinner on Saturday, my brother built up a fire and we enjoyed some (vegan) marshmallows.
Then we brought Dad his birthday cake while he watched the Toronto Maple Leafs game. I'm not a sports fan, but I know enough to know that the Leafs don't often make the playoffs...and they won the game to boot. A little extra birthday present for Dad.
Another beautiful day today. The kids and I took advantage of the blooming daffodils in the backyard. We put together a bouquet for granny and some bouquets to take home. How was your weekend? Did you get to do all that you planned?
Happy birthday to your dad! It rained here so we sat around and watched movies most of the time. Not terribly productive but oh well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the birthday wishes for my dad, Laurie! Too bad about the rain, but sometimes it's nice to have an excuse to just watch movies! I love movies, actually. :)
DeleteI was outside just about all weekend, it was 25 degrees!! So, I didn't do much inside at all!! Had to ve outside!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got the great weather too Jill. :) We certainly deserve it at this point, I think.
DeleteBeautiful pics! The grave of your kitty has me choked up. :( It's a perfect resting place. Our beloved Shadow kitty passed away last october. We are still not over it. Never will be! :(
ReplyDeleteI understand Rachel. Daisy died several years ago, but you never forget. Pets are special. :)
DeleteLooks like a wonderful weekend Jo! Your Dad must have had a great birthday with all of his family! Angie xo
ReplyDeleteI hope he had a good time Angie. Thanks. :)
DeleteGo out and enjoy it!! Many happy birthdays to your Dad-- so sweet that the Leafs got the memo and pulled one off for him lol! Gorgeous pics--
ReplyDeleteThanks Taby. The Leafs are doing great, so more gifts for dad. ;)
DeleteSounds and looks like you had an amazing and fun-filled weekend :)
ReplyDeleteIt was very full and fun indeed. :)
DeleteThat looks like a perfectly perfect weekend! And so much warmer up there than waaay down here... I'm jealous of your lake time.
ReplyDeleteAnd happiest of birthdays to your dad!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Ruthie!
DeleteBeautiful photos, Joann! That looks like a pretty perfect weekend, to me :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful weather wise in my neck of the woods too - I very much took advantage of that and spent time outside soaking in the long awaited sunshine
Sounds lovely. :)

It was nice, thanks Kate. :)
Delete86! Big Rory's rock! Tell your Dad happy birthday from Texas! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThey DO! Or should I say WE DO! Thanks for the birthday wishes! :)
DeleteWhat a perfect way to celebrate your Dad's birthday with his family ... camped out in his house. He must've enjoyed that Leafs win! Bonus! My dad craves to have everyone together all the time now (but then can't remember it at all the next day!). The weather has been incredible this past week, hasn't it?! Gorgeous weekend, spent mine outdoors as much as possible, but didn't get the gardening done that I had planned (too lazy after much driving both days). So I finally sat in the backyard and knit and relaxed and watched the birds yesterday afternoon. The photo of your kids with the daffys is a keeper ;) Wendy
ReplyDeleteI'm answering this late, and we have switched from that lovely weather to cold again! What we endure, Wendy. ;)
DeleteEven if your dad doesn't remember, I'm sure he absorbs the feeling of love and togetherness that he gets from being with family. Aging isn't easy, is it?
What a beautiful looking weekend! Many happy returns to your dad :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteHow fun! Looks like a great weekend and hope your dad's birthday was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely weekend. Thanks very much! :)
DeleteSo happy you got to spend a beautiful weekend celebrating your dad's birthday. I love the picture of him and the picture of you and your sweetie!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter took that picture of us. Otherwise I don't often show up in the photos. ;)
