What is it about sushi? Seriously, do they put something addictive in those little rolls?
You're with me on this, right? Every time I have it, I just want it again. Like, when I look at these pictures, I want to order sushi. And it's 9:00 in the morning!
Anyway, Happy What I Ate Wednesday! I am looking at some highlights of our food from Easter weekend, starting with our Friday night sushi party.
As I showed you on Friday, I recruited the family to help out with some house cleaning so that our house would be relatively clean for the long weekend. I bribed them with a Friday night sushi party. Whatever works! Plus, then I get sushi AND a clean house. Nice. We ordered vegetable fried rice too and I made quick noodles with a leftover sauce I had in the fridge.
I might just bribe the family with sushi every week.
On Saturday morning, we had a special breakfast centred on these fluffy vegan pancakes with blueberries.
We elected to stay home on Sunday. We made our own vegetarian Easter dinner, featuring chickpea patties, mashed potatoes with vegan gravy, biscuits, cranberry sauce and veggies.
We got lucky on Monday. My mother-in-law sent us a care package by way of my sister-in-law. It included this delicious tofu lasagna, as well as banana bread and Italian cookies and cake.
Another treat I enjoyed this week: flowering tea. My mom gave me this teapot a long time ago, but I rarely use it. When I remember to use it, I really enjoy it. This flower was a jasmine green tea flavour.
What were your food highlights this week?

I would love to know what it is about sushi, too... mmm. Wow, that flowering tea is so cool! I've never seen a teapot like that.
ReplyDeleteMy mom ordered the teapot from a TV ad, I think. I don't even know where to get more flowers. :)
DeleteMy first thought was "oh yum, sushi" and then I read what you wrote and cracked up. :D I'm right there with you. It all looks so good, as usual! The flowering tea is COOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! Let's have sushi together one day. ;)
DeleteI LOVE sushi!! We're lucky to have a Japanese restaurant (with takeout!) just around the corner from us. I haven't been there in ages, but your post makes me want the sushi too ;) What a nice MIL to send a 'care package' for the whole family. We have a tea store in our local mall "Teaopia" (I think that's the name), and they sell the flowering teas. Glad you got your sushi & clean house for the weekend ... how's it look today? ;) Wendy
ReplyDeleteThere's no shortage of sushi places nowadays, that's for sure! I will check out the tea place in our mall - great idea!
DeleteThe house is cleaner than usual, although not as clean as it was on Friday. ;)
I love sushi, and now I'm craving it sooo bad, thanks to your yummy looking pictures!!
ReplyDeleteI know just how you feel Ruthie. :)
DeleteOh man now I am craving sushi! It's so addictive and whenever I have a craving, I just can't shake it. Going to get me some cucumber/avocado rolls :P
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way - hard to shake the craving. It won't be today, but I'll have more soon.... :)
DeleteThat plate looks heavenly.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kym! I have enjoyed my food this week! :)

Sushi is just the best... so refreshing and light. Your party looks super fun, and that flowering tea is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's light...except when you go all-you-can-eat, and stuff yourself to the brim like I do. ;) My daughter is now planning another "party." She's polling us to find out what meal we want, what dessert and what balloon colours!
DeleteEverything looks so colorful! Love your flowering tea - that's amazing! How nice of your Mom in law to send along lasagna and treats - what a nice Mom! Two nice Moms! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYes, they are two great moms! :)
DeleteThat teapot is so many cools!! We love sushi here too, though my son can put away half a ton of it so we have to make...well...more than a ton I suppose. Lately we've been eating a lot of thai rolls (essentially sushi with rice paper instead of seaweed and rice served with thai chili sauce). In fact, we are having that tonight!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine Tabetha. When my son gets a bit bigger, we won't be able to afford to order sushi anymore! ;) Your Thai rolls sound delicious! Yum. :)
DeleteHey you´ve a wonderful blog!
ReplyDeleteIf you want we can follow each other here on bloglovin or GFC ?
Let me know, now it´s your turn !!!
xoxo
Thanks! I will pay you a visit. ;) Jo
DeleteA little behind on the blog reading...but I will blame it on the sushi.LOL
ReplyDeleteWe as well have been partaking in those little rolls a lot more lately. Sushi is just yummy.Another positive about sushi is I always seem to sleep well after eating it,well enough that I call it Sushi Coma.
I had more sushi this weekend too! Can't get enough. :) I like your "sushi coma" idea.
DeleteIt's hard to keep up with the blog reading. I understand. So much good stuff to read, so little time... :) Jo
