She & Him, 2/52

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."

She: loves to pose for a photo
Him: would rather talk about Minecraft

I was inspired by Jodi over at Che and Fidel to start a new project this year...taking a photo of each of my children once a week, every week. I am joining the party in week two. I am looking forward to documenting the kids over the year and seeing how much they change and grow.

I would like to create photo books at the end of the year for the kids to keep. They grow up so quickly.

  1. What a great idea! My kids would always be making silly faces, which I suppose will embarrass them when they're older if it's all in book form :) I also like the idea of those 'good things that happened this year' jars where you write down good stuff that happened and put them in the jar. Then you go through it at the end of the year :)

    1. Oh, there will be some silly face shots for sure! :) The good things jar is a great idea too! Focusing on the positive...nice. :)

  2. This is a good idea, and this is the perfect age to capture shots of your kids (ie when they're still living at home). My husband likes to make up family books as gifts using 'blurb' online. The books are good quality too.

    1. I tried my first Blurb book recently and I absolutely loved it. I am fairly lazy about making that kind of stuff though. :(

  3. What a fantastic idea!! There are tons of online shops that will turn all the photos into a book fairly cheaply-- & I love the idea of taking a portrait of them once a month-- looking forward to watching them grow!

    1. I think it's going to be fun - especially when we start getting longer days and a few hours of light around here. ;)

  4. Love it! Wondering if I could get my teenagers to sit still for a moment to do the same.....

    1. Just put your camera on the sports setting and catch them on the run. ;)

    2. Or, photograph them sleeping. Teens like to do that right?

  5. This is great. :) Mine are the opposite. My grandson loves the camera and my 10 year old would rather talk about anything and everything, lol.

What a great way to keep a little photo diary of the kids!

    1. You should do the same with your two little dolls, Wendy!

Don't get me wrong, the girl likes to chat too...even more than him. She just doesn't mind stopping for a photo shoot. ;)

    1. Yes, they are a lovely blue. We weren't expecting a child like that because neither one of us has blue eyes. You just never know what you're going to get. :)

    1. Hi Rebecca! Thanks. I am looking forward to it. Sometimes you don't notice the changes in them day to day, but you look back and say "wow" they've changed. :)

  16. Oh I love this idea!! I think I may have to join!! I seem to go through phases of photographing the kids and then big gaps so this would negate that! Thanks for the inspiration! J9 x

    1. You should join for sure! It's fun...and you're right, it reminds you to keep taking photos. Hopefully they'll appreciate it one day. ;)

    1. Good for you! I can't seem to get a photo book done every five years! ;)

  19. I definitely recommend the photo book. I made one for each month of Ruby's first year and I am now working on one for 2012. It's going to take me FOREVER to narrow down all the pictures I took...or else the book is going to cost me $300, lol.

This may be an ignorant question but do you guys have Groupon and Living Social up there? I am always able to find super good deals on photo books through those sites.

    1. You are amazing! That's wonderful Laurie.

Yes, we have Groupon and Living Social. I see the deals and I even bought one, about three years ago. I have yet to finish that book. ;)
