Simple family moments, captured on cell phone cameras. That's what Insta-Friday is about.
I always freeze my Christmas goodies. Then I defrost a little pile of stuff...every single night...after the kids go to bed. Pictured, date squares, chocolate peanut butter fudge and Sweet Marie bars (my fave).
It's finally cold and snowy...which means that my daughter insists that Jolene wear a hat and coat. She wanted to put the doggie boots on her too, but I insisted we wait for more snow for those.
Jolene has been enjoying having our whole family of four home for two weeks. She seems more relaxed and less likely to steal food from your hands. Maybe. Don't tempt her.
We celebrated New Year's Eve at my sister-in-law's house. With 10 children. Luckily they are very well behaved. Here are five out of the 10.
It was a relaxed family evening. No need to dress up. I went for comfort...which means no chance of contact lenses.
Here's my husband with one of his sisters.
And my oldest niece, in pajamas.
My sisters-in-law put together this beautifully organized veggie platter.
We walked home, with three kids (including my daughter's friend) at about 1:30 in the morning. Very responsible, huh?
Guess what? It's time to buy Christmas ornaments for next year. This whole bunch cost me less than five bucks. I don't actually need more ornaments though. But I love those little Christmas trees and the big spheres. I can hang those from the chandelier next year!
Have a great weekend everybody!

ReplyDeleteThanks Jodi! Jolene is super patient when it comes to being dressed up like a doll!
Deletehey that reminds me, I need to go buy Christmas ornaments now that they're 80% off :)
ReplyDeleteI was inspired by my post-Halloween experience (of 90% off) to go hunting for a similar post-Christmas experience. ;)
DeleteLooks like some fun family get togethers! I wish I could just freeze all the goodies to keep them from tempting me, but I'd break a tooth trying to eat them frozen. Sigh. They have to leave the house.
ReplyDeleteOh, believe me Ruthie, I have eaten some while they were still frozen. I caught my son stooped over the (basement) freezer one day with chocolate on his face too.
DeleteHow fun!! Love the green & blue ornaments btw {perfect for your chandelier}-- so cute!
ReplyDeleteNotice I called them spheres instead of big blue balls? ;)
DeleteHi Joann, thanks for visiting my blog :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post.... Reminds me that I should head out to the shops and buy Christmas ornaments for next year!

DeleteI saw one snowglobe at Hallmark that I wanted, but it wasn't low enough for me!! Hope you got good deals on the decorations!
ReplyDeleteThey were 90% off! Can't really beat that, unless it's free. :)
DeleteThe dog looks so cute in her coat & hat! Looks like such a fun New Year's eve! How fun to have so many kids there around the same age!I am trying to say out of Superstore because I know that I will be so tempted to buy something! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteShe is really a patient dog...much better than we originally thought. She just turned 4 and I can't believe it!
DeleteYes, we are lucky the kids/cousins are similar in age and occupy each other.
Luckily the Superstore didn't have too much Christmas stuff left so I couldn't buy too much! :)
Great collection of photos. The dog sweater is EPIC!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, it's complete with faux fur collar. ;)
DeleteDoes your dog just freeze when she has clothes on? That's what our dog does - It's so funny!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great NYE! Here's to a great year ahead!
I guess she kind of does. :)
DeleteYes, cheers to a great year Julee!
Joann

DeleteGreat photos, Jo! They capture the happiness! :) Being hungry my first thought was "I see chocolate" ... Chocolate peanut butter fudge? You're killing me ... I'm about to eat oatmeal. :(
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday my friend!
Ps- Want some more shells? I have tons.
Oatmeal is good too -- just throw some chocolate chips on it. ;)
DeleteI am jealous you are picking up shells. Want some snow? :)
Love that your family lives close enough to walk home! AND love your glasses, girl.
ReplyDeleteYes, walking is a good choice to have sometimes. ;)
DeleteThanks for the compliment about my glasses. I am pretty much tied to them all the time - I'm blind without them!
Love that you guys live close enough to your family that you can walk home!
