Insta-Friday in real life...with Frida Kahlo

Happy Insta-Friday! I hope you are all recovering nicely from the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

I am sharing a look at our family cell phone photos from the past week, beginning with our "date" last Saturday. As I mentioned before, my parents were staying with us, so we took the opportunity to have them babysit. We saw the Frida and Diego show at the Art Gallery of Ontario and then went for dinner in Kensington Market.

You couldn't take pics inside the show, but these eerie figures were waiting outside. Of the two talented artists, I am most drawn to Frida. The physical and mental pain from her tortured body and her inability to have a child is clear in her anguished paintings.

Clearly not Frida or Diego. Just liked this Henry Moore sculpture.

Here I am in the Galleria Italia inside the AGO.

Here, some family and friends on Tibb's Eve. That's the night before Christmas Eve. Never heard of it until this year, when our Newfoundland friends kindly invited us over. We were admiring the lights in their closed porch here.

My little girl and her dad went skating on Christmas Day. She recently became a skating enthusiast.

How was your week?

Have a fantastic weekend!

  6. Love Frida too! Diego, not so much. His art is fantastic but I blame him for much of her misery.

  7. I really like Frida Kahlo's paintings. I remember watching a biography of her life on TV. I did not realize that she lived with so much misery.
