Insta-Friday in real life, a football game + more

Insta-Friday time...simple cell phone pics from our week. In my last post, I told you about the girls' night that my daughter and I shared last weekend while the guys were at the football game in Hamilton.

It was the last game at the old Ivor Wynne stadium in our hometown, so my husband wanted to be there. They are going to tear down the stadium and build a fancy new one.

Here is my son, my father-in-law and a friend, ready for rain. And rain they got! The whole time.

They held up really well in the poor weather, but once the game was over, my son didn't want to waste any time, as you can hear in the video.

The Tiger Cats won, which was only suitable for their last game at Ivor Wynne.

I volunteered to help out with the Scientist in the School program in my daughter's Grade 3 class this week. We looked at the components that make up soil, which is actually loam as I learned. Yes, it's Grade 3, but usually I don't even know the science stuff!

Here are the kiddies ready to go to school on Halloween day. My son was a gangster clown, while my daughter was half good cheerleader, half bad cheerleader.

Here's a meal I enjoyed while out with my mom the other night at my parents' favourite new restaurant. They don't have many restaurants in their small town, so they are pleased to have a new choice. The kind waitress asked the (also kind) chef for a dairy-free vegetarian option, and he made this eggplant sans parmesan with a side of pasta.

I am staying with my mom for a few days. My dad had surgery for colon cancer yesterday morning. The surgery went well. The cancer didn't spread to any organs, and they are testing his lymph nodes now. He seems to be recovering nicely, although he is in a lot of pain. I am trying to visit my blog friends as usual via the computer in the hospital, but if I miss you somehow, I'll visit in a couple of days.

Take care my friends, and have a great weekend.

  2. So sorry to hear about your dad, but most glad to hear he is on the mend. Wonderfully fantastical costumes {whose idea was half good/half bad cheerleader? so clever!} & good that your men folk {lol} got to spend the last game in the ole stadium. Now go focus on the family, we'll be here when you get back!
