Since I didn`t get my thrift fix this week, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and show you some of my favourite vintage items.
My mom gave me this lovely dish, wish is currently decorating the side of my bathtub. I love the sweet old-fashioned girl.
And, of course, the boy as well.
This vase is larger than it looks in the photo. I bought it years ago on the Locke Street antique store strip in Hamilton. It says W. Germany on the bottom.
I have a number of treasures that came from my mom`s mom. This vase is the only thing I have that belonged to my dad`s mom. It is much prettier in real life, when you can really see the bubble effect.
This cream and sugar set is one of the goodies I have from my mom`s mom.
This big shell was always around our house growing up. I`m not sure where my parents got it, but I was (and still am) convinced I can hear the ocean in it.
Lastly, my childhood H.R. Pufnstuf lunchbox. I know...it`s awesome!
It still has the piece of tape with my name and address on it stuck to the top.
What`s your favourite sentimental treasure?

DeletePUFNSTUF!!! Too awesome-- & love the Gainsborough Blue Boy & Pink Girl set-- you have phenomenal taste in decorations!
ReplyDeleteYou're sweet Tabetha. I don't know if I should take the credit. My mom gave me most of the stuff I have! :)
DeleteOh and btw Tabetha, I didn't know it was Gainsborough's Blue Boy and Pink Girl - so thank you! :)
DeleteLove your lunchbox!! I have mine too - Popeye.
ReplyDeleteOh, Popeye...that's cool!
DeleteI don't have my old lunch box, but it was Snoopy....and the start of a life long love of all things Beagle!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I never had an interest in beagles, but somehow I ended up with a beagle mix dog! :)
Deleteoooh the lunchbox!!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember loving the suitcase I had for school, back in those retro days when kids could take suitcases to school.
I never took a suitcase to school. That would be awesome!
DeleteNice things. I love the big seashell and the story to go with it! One of my favourite sentimental treasures is a brass bell that's shaped like an apple. I had given it to my paternal grandmother for Christmas when I was about 12. I remember feeling so grown up because I used my own money to buy it. After my grandmother passed away a few years ago, it was amongst some things my aunt had given to my parents as momentos, so I ended up getting it back. Now it sits on a shelf in my room.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story. Nice that you have it around as a sweet reminder. :)
DeleteOh that lunchbox! So awesome.
ReplyDeleteI just need to figure out how to display it! :)
DeleteGreat treasures, I have just a few serving dishes from my mom that I treasure, but most of my stuff is on the newer side so not so many heirlooms (although maybe they will be someday!).
ReplyDeleteYes, we have to decide how much we keep for our kids. ;)
DeleteI love those first two!
