Insta-Friday in real life, basement overhaul week
For those who are new to Insta-Friday, it means sharing simple cell phone photos from your past week and linking them up with Life Rearranged. With our handy cell phone cameras, we take way more pictures than we used to, don't we? Might as well share some.
This week, my daughter (above, right) has been going to dance camp each day with her visiting cousin.
With the little (demanding) one out of the way, I asked my husband to agree to spend two hours each day organizing our basement. Over the whole week, that amounts to 20 man hours...which might seem like a lot...but you haven't seen our basement.
Mind you, my husband is going golfing today, so he is not going to be putting in his two hours. What do you think? Should he make it up on the weekend?
Part of the basement overhaul was finding somewhere to store my vintage dishes. My husband picked up two new storage units at Canadian Tire and put them together.
We made a trip to donate some stuff to the Salvation Army. Did you know that, for any donation, you get a $5 off (if you spend $25) coupon?
We took a break from organizing to have all-you-can-eat lunch at our favourite sushi place. Because we are vegetarians, we tend to go at lunch. We don't want to pay dinner prices, because we really don't get more variety at dinnertime.
We stuffed our faces real good. No worries that we might not get our money's worth. We paid $7.99 for my 10-year-old son, but he eats just about as much as we do.
How was your week?

I need to clean our basement. I've been putting it off. You are inspiring me to at least get it started. Love sushi. Looks delicious. Have a great week. (stopped by from Life.Rearranged)
ReplyDeleteOh, we put it off too...for a very long time. That's why it needs so much work! Good luck with yours. :)
DeleteOh I'm jealous. I'd love to sort through and organize our stuff. Maybe when our children graduate from high school :)
ReplyDeleteI understand Ruthie. It isn't easy, that's for sure. The kids have so many THINGS. And they don't want to part with many of them (even if they never use them).
DeleteOur attic is where we let everything pile up- but my husband is actually such and organization freak that it's pretty tidy (although still too much stuff!). Hope that your basement overhaul turns out great!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing we don't have an attic to use. We would collect even more stuff! :)
DeleteMmmm...all you can eat sushi. Sounds like my kind of deal!
ReplyDeleteIt is awesome. You should see me stuff my face. ;)
DeleteGood luck! There is something very satisfying about an organized basement-- & now I want to have sushi!
ReplyDeleteIt's just nice to walk to the fruit cellar without jumping over stuff. ;)
Deletemmmmm my all-time favorite! sushi! reminds me to make it tonite ;) have a great week ahead jo!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful week too!
DeleteNice! I hope you actually let your husband have a break from basement this weekend;-))))
ReplyDeleteYou are kind. Actually, we haven't worked on the basement this weekend, but we did have a FULL day of soccer yesterday, so it wasn't all that relaxing. Today will be for rest. :)
DeleteI admit that I am not a huge fan of Sushi although I do like some of it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to clear out the basement. That is on my list of projects to get done by the end of Autumn season.
I didn't like sushi the first time I tried it, but I came around big time! No fish, though.
DeleteGood luck with your basement! :)
Wow, did you get everything done? I know what a big job that can be. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteNot quite. I came to a standstill when I got to the kids' old clothes. Mental barrier there. Have a great week too! :)
DeleteMaybe you didn't get your basement totally cleared but your hubby did get the storage units up for you! That's a big score! Good luck getting it totally organized.
ReplyDeleteTrue Sherry. And we did get a lot done. Now I can chip away at the rest gradually.
