Simple, quick, handy cell phone photos.
What did we ever do without them? Remember when you had to wait to get your film developed?
Anyway, here are some highlights from my family’s week.
That’s my daughter sleeping, above. We had a busy weekend, starting with a visit to our local drive-in. The first movie was The Avengers, followed by Mirror Mirror. My poor little girl really wanted to see Mirror Mirror but she didn’t even make it through The Avengers. And none of us made it through Mirror Mirror. Oh well, one day they will look back fondly on their drive-in days.
Let me just say The Avengers is maybe not a good drive-in movie. Most of the movie is so dark, it was actually difficult to see it. “Is that Gwyneth Paltrow?” I asked my husband at one point.
For the first time ever, we decided to get season passes to Canada’s Wonderland. Last time I was there, I was 15. Yep, I should have left it at that.
You spend more time there waiting than anything.
One hour waiting to process season passes, one hour waiting for each of two rides.
My son was excited though. He has been discussing what rides he plans to go on ever since.
He and my husband did go on the Ghoster Coaster. My daughter adamantly refused.
We caught the park’s fireworks display for Victoria Day.
And then waited TWO HOURS to get out of the parking lot! How about some staff members to organize traffic flow, people? One police officer and two upset park workers ain't gonna cut it!
On a more pleasant note, we enjoyed a visit to Kensington Market, which is adjacent to Toronto’s Chinatown.
We ate a delicious dinner at King’s CafĂ©, a vegetarian restaurant. You don’t know how much I love actually having choices at a restaurant!
We came through from the back and saw lots of graffiti in the alley. Love the raccoon.
My son really enjoys looking at all of the graffiti in the city. I wasn’t so fond of my view from the dinner table—a man peeing against the nice graffiti wall! I guess he didn’t see all the big windows behind him.
We enjoyed tofu drumsticks…
Tofu with a seaweed coating…
Some sushi…
And yummy chow mein noodles.
How was your week? Happy Friday!

Oh, I wish we still had a drive in! My kids would love that! What fun! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I am now following you! Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, we are lucky that there is one close by, Shelby! Thanks for following!
DeleteI'm coming to visit from Insta Friday. I thought that Avengers was awesome. You saying maybe it was not a good drive in movie reminded me .... We saw the Expendables at the drive in, and thought it was not so good. Now there are previews for a second one. Maybe it was like you said, too dark for the drive inn.
ReplyDeleteI will have to give The Avengers a try again when I can actually see it then!
DeleteWow I'm surprised you could finish your meal with that view :) The fireworks look beautiful... those parking lot traffic jams make me nuts though- the worste.
ReplyDeleteI know, huh? Gross. The fireworks were nice, but we should have watched from the highway on our way home. ;)
DeleteIsn't that the way with amusement parks-- they sound like such a wonderful time, then you get there and reality {and crowds} set in-- at least the kids had fun, eh?
ReplyDeleteYes, the kids had fun, although my daughter was screaming at us in the parking lot. She kept saying we could find a way out if we tried. ;)
DeleteWhat a fun, busy weekend! I love the drive-in, but I'd probably be looking like your daughter these days. Turn off the lights, and I'm out!
ReplyDeleteIt's sad. The more I want to stay awake, the earlier I fall asleep! I drank tea at the drive-in to keep me up.
Delete2 hours in the parking lot?? Wow. That is terrible! I made the decision long ago that I will not go to an amusement park unless it's during the week before the kids are out of school. Otherwise to me it is a complete waste of my time. I realize that I have a very narrow window of opportunity but I'm okay with that!
ReplyDeleteThat last dish looks amazing! Seems like a fun week :)
Hi Laurie, I know, huh? I might even pull the kids out of school one day to go enjoy the rides! The noodles were really good. :)
DeleteWe love Drive-Ins too! It's something that we enjoy when we go home to Nova Scotia! Yep, we avoid theme parks like the plague...my kids hated Disney World...the waits, the crowds, the broken rides, the heat...they were not impressed! They love the beach....just hanging out...swimming, waves, sand and relaxing. We won't waste our money on theme parks again...we love more casual settings! Have a wonderful week! Angie xo
ReplyDeleteWe have never been to a drive-in in Nova Scotia. What a great idea! We spent one day at Magic Kingdom last year and the kids enjoyed it. Lots of rides that my daughter was willing to go on (unlike Canada's Wonderland). We also got a perfect day in terms of weather in Florida, so that helped. Anyway, we have the season passes now, so we will just have to plan for shortish visits. I agree, the beach is best! Have a great week too Angie!
DeleteWe went to Canada's Wonderland last summer with the kids. They loved it--especially the waterpark which really grossed me out. I am convinced I got something funny on my toe nail from that place. Tea tree oil and oil of oregano got rid of that. The kids loved it. I am not a roller coaster person. Just watching some of the rides made me feel woozy. Sounds like a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah! Nice to hear from you! I am looking forward to the water park opening. Apparently we will all be wearing flip flops and water shoes though! ;) I will not go on the roller coasters. I figure watching the kids splash around is more my style. :)
