A Dream of Happiness

“Each today, well-lived, makes yesterday a dream of happiness and each tomorrow a vision of hope. Look, therefore, to this one day, for it and it alone is life.”
—Sanskrit poem
In other words, break out the good china today, whether it is a “special occasion” or not. Take this opportunity to celebrate the gift of an ordinary day.
Or, in my case, buy some more china, just because it is lovely and definitely not because I need it.
I visited Value Village recently, and came away with these beautiful Johnson Brothers dishes, because I simply couldn’t resist the pretty pink flowers.

I am faced with a new challenge, having just re-worked my china cabinet last week to accommodate the other dishes I recently salvaged from the basement.

I also found this interesting heart-shaped mirror for my daughter’s room.

I think the little Cupids are so sweet.

I also found this sign for my daughter’s bedroom. I knew she would like it. She wants to put it on the door as a message to her older brother.
How about you? Any special finds this week? Or, any plans to celebrate on this lovely, ordinary day?

  4. Love the mirror - we would have been fighting over that one ;D
Your china is looking so pretty - a beautiful tea party must be planned soon ;)

I don't get into my VV finds at all on my blog - but I so should. My husband certainly doesn't appreciate my finds so someone on my blog might ;D LOL

    1. You are so right - that china calls for a tea party! You should definitely share your finds. Husbands are not a good audience for shopping treasures.

  6. I've only recently heard about all of this amazing Johnson Brothers dish ware. Now I'm obsessed with finding some of it which is probably unlikely here in Kentucky. I am actually going on my first thrifting outing in more than 2 months tomorrow. I am SOOO exited!!

    1. Our regular set of dishes growing up was Johnson Brothers Friendly Village, so I am quite used to them. Interesting that they are harder to find in your area. I am so happy that you are well enough to take a thrifting trip now. I hope you share any finds!
