Vintage Tandy Caveman Handheld Video Game & Vintage Bliss Tuesdays Linky Party #51

I'm not a video game person. One night recently I suggested that we have a Friday night family video game night. My son has a whole box of PS2 games that don't get used much (because he has a PS3 and daily asks for a PS4). I thought some of them looked like fun. My daughter happened to be out with a friend at the start of the family games night, so I played with the husband and son. I started with Ms Pac Man, a throwback to childhood. First of all, I don't enjoy playing video games that much. Second of all, I don't enjoy the boys laughing at me because I suck at playing video games. They play frequently and have obviously developed more skills. But that didn't keep them from chuckling...a lot.

Anyway, my sister just moved recently. She hasn't quite finished unpacking and so she has some boxes of stuff lying about. I spotted this vintage 1980s Caveman handheld video game among the stuff. And I had one of those moments - you know those moments when you realize that you had TOTALLY forgotten about something that you loved? I loved that game. I don't remember exactly when or for how long, but it was one video game I really enjoyed playing. It was sold at Radio Shack (Tandy Corporation) and also came in red. It was made in Japan.

Even Caveman's noises are so familiar to me. If you had it or are just interested in seeing it for some reason, here is somebody demonstrating Caveman in action. Essentially, the player is the caveman and he steals eggs from a dinosaur. It's super simple - no fancy stuff - but it's a lot of fun. Not that I imagine I'll be spending hours playing or anything. Probably the boys will end up taking it over briefly - just to prove they can beat me at it!

Do you like video games? Maybe you're a Candy Crush fan like my mom?
