A Thanksgiving Table Setting & Vintage Bliss Tuesdays Linky Party #4

Our Canadian Thanksgiving is coming up this weekend. I'm not hosting, but I thought I would play around with table settings to get us all in a Thanksgiving mood on this Vintage Bliss Tuesday. I challenged myself to set the table using only items that I already had lying around the house. I even clipped a few yellow flowers from the last holdouts in my outdoor flower boxes.

I took a look in my china cupboard at my inherited/vintage/thrifted pieces and decided on a gold and pink colour scheme. I love to mix and match various pieces and styles of vintage china so that even the odds and ends that aren't part of a set get some loving use. I also added some brass candlestick holders that my mom gave me. And the little pumpkin that I painted gold at my daughter's birthday party.

I selected forks and spoons from the box of silver-plated cutlery my mom gave me. I tied them together with a bit of pink ribbon from our craft area. The fresh, new linen napkins are from my mother-in-law. I'm happy with the overall effect - I think it's vintage with a modern sensibility. In fact, my little table setting kind of makes me want to host Thanksgiving. I guess there's always Christmas?

How do you set your Thanksgiving table?

  3. That's a gorgeous setting! I think I may have those same rose plates-- note I say "think" which indicates how out of control my collection is, I've lost track of what I have... yet again a week has flown without me linking up! I stored everything away before laying it all out to take photos but we're moving some furniture around this week so I hope to have a super post up next week! I didn't comment on your daughter's birthday party post in case it gained me an entry to the giveaway (I'm in Australia, obviously!) so I'll comment here instead! What a fun party and I loved that the girls ate fruit (I've been calling it token fruit when we have parties and I was stunned when most of it was eaten last time!) My daughter received a Monster High doll for Christmas last year and I had no idea there was so many other things that tie in with it! A very happy birthday from my daughter (and me!) to yours :D

    1. I understand you completely. I forget I have stuff all the time! Join the party whenever you get a chance. I'd love to have you. :)

You are so right, it's "token fruit," although I have seen you make very nice, healthy party food. We usually just get pizza! Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! Jo
